Professional Summary - Clive Harris

Clive has over 24 years of IT experience. As an executive Distinguished Engineer and technical leader at IBM, he acquired a broad range of global experience and skills on both the technical, consulting, business and strategic fronts. His recent focus has been on managing and driving innovation and change delivering business value, leveraging emerging technology solutions, including complex and large scale e-business solutions, enterprise architectures and strategies.

Clive has also designed and delivered technical leadership programmes, developing the technical leaders of the future. Clive is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET), a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and a Chartered IT Professional (CITP). He has lectured at a number of universities on innovation and change, based on his experience of Chief Innovation Offer at IBM. He has also regularly presented on technical subjects and strategic topics at seminars and conferences around the world.

Clive has worked with a range of clients in differing industries, primarily Insurance and Financial Services, but also telecommunications, electronics, retail, construction and government. Whilst at IBM he led a worldwide technical community of architects and specialists who work with Open Source and Linux technologies. One of the highlights of his career so far has been leading joint innovation partnerships with clients. His prime focus is often to manage and deliver innovation within a transformation programme. This is successfully achieved by means of strong governance and close partnership with the client business teams.

Clive is the author of the publication, The IBM RISC System/6000, a technical book published by McGraw-Hill, and in addition he is the author of a large number of IBM publications and technical White Papers. He also has a patent for an invention related to a delivery environment for Enterprise Architecture initiatives.

Clive has been trained in a number of formal methods, including Design Methods, Enterprise Architecture Methods, project management and consultancy methods.

Clive's technical background combined with his communications skills enables him to operate at a variety of levels and he is equally capable of communicating with senior executives or technical specialists alike.

Clive has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wales and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He taught Mathematics and Computer Science to A level standard before joining IBM. Clive is a fully qualified and active helicopter pilot.

Clive left IBM in early 2010 to set up his own business.
